Madieke Van Lith and Asako Kanazawa are the cornerstones of OOKII, a project to bring authentic mugicha to Belgium. Madieke worked as a marketer for various international food and beverage brands. She spent two years living in Japan, where she discovered this popular Japanese drink. When she returned to Belgium, she and her family wished to keep in touch with Japanese culture.

And so she met Asako, a Japanese cellist who, after an international career, ended up in Belgium. What began as a professional collaboration has grown into a friendship, and has now given rise to OOKII, a project where their love for Japan and mugicha come together.
